Co-simulation of a tangle based distributed ledger and an exemplary electricity distribution grid

Assigned to N. Ismailova.

Master’s thesis

“Electricity networks are at the dawn of a new era of power generation through renewable energy sources. Directed acyclic graph based distributed ledgers might be enabling technology for energy trading and other services needed in the fu- ture power grids. This thesis presents an approach to co-simulation of power distribution grids and the tangle, an emerging distributed ledger technology. A proof-of-concept implementation with the co-simulation tool mosaik and a private IOTA network is provided. A simplified distribution grid model consisting of 37 households and a variable number of solar panels is simulated to share energy and document the interaction through tangle transactions.”
